The Accredited Gemologist (A.G.) program offered by the AIGS-Thailand is one of the world’s most prestigious gemology programs. For over forty-five years gemologists, gem dealers, professional buyers, collectors, appraisers, graders, jewelers and retailers have learned their skills from the Accredited Gemologist program and prosper professionally.

The Accredited Gemologist program requires no prerequisites or prior gemstone knowledge. All it requires is your love and passion for gemstones and a desire to excel in this beautiful field. Whether you are new to gemstones, or an experienced dealer having years of experience, the AIGS Accredited Gemologist program has something for you.


What will I get to learn?

You will learn lots of things in the Accredited Gemologist program! Here’s a brief overview on what the program offers.

The first phase of the program teaches you the knowledge and skills on how to identify gemstones and diamonds with the use of important gemological instruments.

 Such instruments include the standard 10X loupe, refractometer, polariscope, spectroscope, and many more. Not only will you be adept in identifying many important gemstones, but on how to separate natural stones from synthetic ones.

The second phase of the program teaches you the important skills of grading and valuating diamonds and gemstones. Grading and valuation knowledge is vital to effective buying and selling in the marketplace. Besides being skilled gemologists, many of our instructors have years of business experience in the trade and can therefore help provide valuable practical advice and guidance.

Towards the end of the program students will embark on practical trips within the Bangkok market as well as a weekend trip to the important trading and cutting center of Chanthaburi in southeast Thailand. These practical trips are both enjoyable and educational. It helps prepare students for an exciting career ahead.

      When will this course start?

The AIGS Accredited Gemologist program is a 14-week fulltime course. Class timings are from 9am to 4pm. The AIGS is currently accepting applications for enrollment for the following dates: 

27th March – 10th July 2023 (English language)

6th June – 15th September 2023 (Thai language)

11th September – 20th December 2023 (English language)
